Site work for ground that fights back.

Rock excavation, pads, grading, drainage, culverts and driveways for Hill Country homesites, shops and venues. We bring the breaker, so the limestone doesn't stop the job.

Rock excavation

Limestone is normal here. We bring the breaker.

Hard limestone can sit inches under the grass across Burnet and Llano counties. Our excavators run hydraulic breakers, so trenches, pads, septic fields and foundations get dug to depth without waiting on another sub.

  • Hydraulic breaker and excavator work
  • Ledge removal on steep lots
  • Trenches for septic, water and power
  • Native stone saved for walls and steps

Pads & grading

A pad that stays flat.

House, shop and slab pads cut, filled and compacted in lifts so the concrete has something solid under it. We set grade so water drains away from the building, not toward it.

HOUSE PAD

Homesite pads

Clear, cut, fill and compact in lifts to the builder's elevation, with the rock handled.

Typicalfrom $3,500
SHOP PAD

Shops & barns

Pads and approaches for metal buildings, shops and barns, including the drive and turnaround.

GRADING

Grading & base

Event lawns, parking and yards graded, based, wetted and rolled so they drain and stay level.

Drainage & culverts

Give the water somewhere to go.

Thin Hill Country soil sheds water fast. If a drive keeps washing out, a yard floods against the slab, or a low crossing turns into a creek, we fix it with culverts, swales, French drains and rock outlets.

  • Culvert crossings with rock headwalls
  • Swales and French drains
  • Driveway and road base with crown and ditches
  • Erosion control on cleared slopes
Clearing & land prep

Clear the lot, keep the good trees.

Selective cedar clearing, homesite clearing and demolition before the build starts. We keep the oaks and leave mulch down where it protects the soil.

Need senderos, walking paths or cart paths on the property too? Our sister crew TX Trailcraft builds those.

Questions

Site work FAQ

How do you price rock excavation?

By the cubic yard when we can measure it, or by the hour for breaker work when nobody knows how deep the rock goes. Rippable caliche and soft limestone run about $35 to $45 a yard. Hard limestone that needs the hydraulic breaker runs about $65 to $90 a yard.

Can you get my lot ready for the builder?

Yes. That's most of our site work: clear the homesite, cut and fill, break the rock, build the pad, set culverts and the driveway base, and coordinate the septic so the builder walks onto a ready lot.

What happens to the rock you dig up?

Good limestone gets stockpiled and reused for retaining walls, steps, edging and erosion control. The rest we use as fill where it works or haul off.

Do you work for builders and commercial clients?

Yes. We sub site work, drainage and flatwork for builders and handle grading, base and drainage for shops, venues and commercial lots.

Walk the property with us.

Book a site walk and we'll look at the ground, the rock, the water and the access, then send a written, fixed-price proposal within 7 days. The site walk fee is credited toward any build over $5,000.
